Gachagua visits family which lost 4 members in Naivasha accident

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed deep sorrow over a road accident in Naivasha that claimed the lives of nine people, including a young family from Kiambu County.

In a statement shared on X on Sunday, January 11, 2026, Gachagua said he visited Ndùndù Village in Gatundu South to offer condolences to the bereaved family of the late James Njoroge, who, together with his wife and their two children, died in a road accident in Naivasha.

“On my way from AIPCA Kiamuoria in Gatundu South, Kiambu County, I passed by Ndùndù Village to offer my condolences to the family of the late Catechist James Njoroge,” he said.

The late Catechist James Njoroge, his wife, and their two children died in the accident on January 4, 2026, while returning home.

“Catechist Njoroge, his wife and two children, tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Naivasha on January 4, 2026, while on their way home,” Gachagua added.

The family was among nine victims of the accident, which has left the community in shock.

“The four were among the nine people who perished in that unfortunate incident, which remains painful; I extend my sympathies to the family and friends of catechist Njoroge,” he said.

Gachagua described the loss as devastating and emphasised the emotional toll on the community.

“Losing this young family is not only heartbreaking but also deeply traumatising,” he said.

Gachagua used the moment to urge motorists to be vigilant on the roads to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

“I urge all road users to exercise caution at all times to avert possible loss of lives,” Gachagua said.

In closing, Gachagua offered prayers for the departed souls and comfort for the grieving family.

“May God rest their souls in eternal peace, and perpetual light shine upon them,” he said.

The accident has renewed calls for increased road safety measures, especially on major highways connecting urban and rural areas, as communities cope with the sudden loss of loved ones.
