Gachagua: Ruto must be held accountable if something happens to me
By Lutta Njomo, October 20, 2024Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has come out to lament how he has been exposed and left with no security detail despite obtaining conservatory orders against the impeachment motion,
Speaking at Karen Hospital on Sunday, October 20, 2024, Gachagua went bare knuckle indicating that President President William Ruto should be held accountable if anything happens to him.
Gachagua who informed the press that doctors at Karen Hospital had discharged him after a life-threatening health condition, stated that his security detail was withdrawn while he was fighting for his life.

He added that his officials’ cars assigned to him were also repossessed by the government immediately after the Senate approved the impeachment motion.
However, he made it clear that he was heading home where security officers assigned to guard his officials’ residences were withdrawn.
“I want Kenyans to know that as I go home today, I have no security. If anything happens to me or my family, President Ruto must be held accountable,” Gachagua boldly said outside Karen Hospital.
Obey Court Orders
Gachagua wondered why the impeachment process was rushed without even allowing him to be heard. He maintained that the whole process was perfectly crafted and to hound him out of office for facing his boss and telling him the truth.
According to the former DP, he raised reservations against some taxation policies, the housing programme, the Adani deal, corruption and demolition which he claimed did not augur well with his boss.

Despite the persecution, Gachagua appealed to President William Ruto to obey the court orders.
“Let the President obey court orders. Through a court order, Rigathi Gachagua is Deputy President. Why doesn’t he have cars? Why doesn’t he have security? Why has his office been made dysfunctional?” Gachagua wondered.
“For the last one year, it has been very difficult for me. When I look at it, it is history repeating itself. President Ruto wanted to take me the route President Moi took Kenneth Matiba. He pushed Matiba up to getting a stroke and eventually dying. Many of his people were calling to ask if I am dead. They were celebrating,” Gachagua lamented over the persecutions.
