Gachagua, Kalonzo join mourners in tribute to Full Gospel Bishop’s wife Catherine Macharia

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka have joined mourners in paying tribute to Reverend Catherine Macharia, the wife of Bishop David Macharia, General Overseer of the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya, following her passing.

Reverend Catherine Macharia, described by the church as a committed servant of God, died on May 14,2026, according to a statement released by the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya leadership. Her death has drawn condolences from political leaders and the wider Christian community, who remembered her as a devoted minister and mentor.

Gachagua, in a post on Thursday, May 21, 2026, mourned Catherine as a faithful Christian who devoted her life to spiritual service and humanity. In his message of condolence.

“I have learnt of the passing on of Rev Catherine Macharia, wife of Bishop David Macharia, General Overseer of the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya, with great sadness. Catherine lived a life of prayer, service to God and humanity,” he said.

He extended sympathies to Bishop David Macharia, the family, and members of the church, noting that they are in his prayers during this difficult moment.

“May Almighty God rest the soul of Rev Catherine in eternal peace and glory be upon her forever,” Gachagua said.

On his part, Kalonzo also expressed sorrow over her passing, describing her as a dedicated minister whose influence extended through mentorship and service within the church.

“It is with deep sorrow that I have learned of the passing of Rev Catherine Macharia, beloved wife of Bishop Dr David Macharia. Rev Catherine was deeply dedicated to ministry and mentored many, leaving behind a legacy of faith, guidance and service that will continue to inspire generations,” the statement read.

Moreover, the Full Gospel Churches of Kenya described Catherine as a virtuous woman whose life reflected humility, compassion, and unwavering commitment to ministry.

“She was a virtuous woman of faith, compassion, humility and unwavering dedication to the service of God,” the church said.

The church further noted that her death was a significant loss to her family and the broader Christian community, adding that she would be remembered for her prayerful life and kindness.

A funeral service for Catherine will be held on May 26 at Kunste Grounds in Nakuru, starting at 10 am. The burial service will follow on May 27, 2026, at the Sugunoi home grounds in Nakuru, where family, church members, and mourners are expected to gather to celebrate her life and ministry legacy.
