Gachagua attends church service in Nairobi amid reports of planned trip to Raila’s Opoda Farm
By Luke Oluoch, October 26, 2025United opposition and DCP party leader Rigathi Gachagua has joined the faithful of the House of Grace church in Langata Road, Nairobi, amid speculation that he was headed to Opoda Farm.
In a statement on Sunday, October 26, 2025, the former deputy president expressed his delight at joining the Christian family for the day’s worship.
His presence dispelled speculation that was rife on social media that he was headed to the Opoda farm to pay his tribute to the late Raila Odinga and console his grieving family.
Gachagua’s recent silence
The foregoing comes after the DP elected to maintain an eerie silence following Raila Odinga’s death on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

The Opposition figure was conspicuously missing in Raila’s state funeral in Nairobi, and also gave his burial at Opoda farm in Bondo a wide berth.
His absence fuelled criticism from the political divide, with government-allied politicians castigating his action or lack thereof, following the aftermath of Odinga’s death on October 15 while receiving medical treatment in India.

Speaking on Gachagua’s failure to join the nation in burying Raila, Kakamega Deputy Governor Ayub Savula accused Gachagua of harbouring bitter indignation towards the departed leader.
Savula on Gachagua
Savula emphasised that the Democracy For Citizens Party (DCP) leader ought to have at least sent a message of condolences or sent an emissary to express his condolences.
“We cannot be bitter towards each other even in the face of tragedy. Even if you are bitter, Raila cannot die, and you fail to come to sign the condolences book. Which kind of anger is that? When your neighbour dies, the only act you can undertake is to accord him your final respect,” he said.
He bemoaned that the former DP could not even use his deputy leader to convey his tributes.
“He could not even send his deputy leader, Malala, to condole Raila,”he stated.
The close associates of the politician have, however, stated that he plans to travel to Bondo to pay his tribute and console the family of the late Raila Odinga.
