Former UDA Senator Gloria Orwoba arrested
Former nominated United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Senator Gloria Orwoba has been arrested outside Parliament buildings.
Speaking to People Daily Digital on Wednesday, 29, 2026, Orwoba confirmed that she had been arrested by Parliament police officers after she tried regaining entry into the parliament buildings.
“I am in the cell after being arrested at the Senate gate, in a cell in the parliament police station,” Orwoba said.
In videos seen by People Daily Digital, Orwoba could be heard shouting while demanding entry into the premises as heavy police presence stood by.
Orwoba’s court report
Her arrest comes weeks after the High Court declined to suspend the ruling by the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT) that reinstated her as UDA member.
In the ruling delivered on April 14, 2026, the Court declined to suspend a decision that found UDA’s expulsion of Orwoba from the party as unprocedural.
UDA had argued that implementing the PPDT orders would cause its Electoral Nomination and Dispute Resolution Committee (ENDRC) irreparable harm, as it would be permanently restrained from enforcing its disciplinary mandate.

However, Justice Mugambi ruled that the party had failed to demonstrate that its disciplinary structures would be affected.
He upheld the PPDT decision, which nullified Orwoba’s expulsion from the party and the gazettement of Consolata Nabwire as her replacement as Nominated Senator.
The Political Parties Tribunal had in August last year faulted the party for expelling Orwoba without affording her an opportunity to sufficiently defend herself.
Orwoba speaks
Orwoba recently spoke on her exit from the Senate, revealing that her salary was stopped months before her seat was gazetted as vacant on Wednesday, May 21, 2025
Speaking during an interview with K24 TV on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, Orwoba stated that her salary stopped approximately three months before that date, tracing the timeline back to the period of her suspension.
“Something that people don’t know is that my salary did not stop on the day when they gazetted my seat vacant. My salary actually stopped about 3 months before that, when I was suspended,” Orwoba said.
