Farouk Kibet promises Ryan Injendi govt post after losing UDA primaries
By Mabonga Makhanu, October 1, 2025Farouk Kibet has assured Ryan Injendi, the son of the late Malava MP Malulu Injendi, of a government position after losing in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party primaries.
While speaking during a forum in the constituency, which was organised by Ryan as his Thanksgiving following his loss on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, according to Farouk, the president will offer him a job in honour of his late father, who was a close confidant of the president.

Farouk Kibet also commended the young Injendi for his spirited fight in the party nominations that saw him come second after Kakamega Minority Leader David Ndakwa, who won by a landslide.
The event brought together the top three defeated aspirants, and Farouk promised that they will also be accommodated in President Ruto’s government.
“Huyu Ryan ruto Atamueka mahali, kwa heshima ya malulu injendi, na watu wa malava hata huyu shamaka ruto atamueka mahali.” Farouk said
Malava by-election
This comes days after Ryan’s resounding loss to Kakamega County minority leader David Ndakwa, who dwarfed him in the primaries.
Ryan later came out lamenting the betrayal from the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, stating that despite other top government officials deciding not to take sides in the party elections, people from his office were out in the constituency trying to influence the vote in Ndakwa’s favour.
Despite all these, he decided to remain in the party and agreed to support the winner.

After the UDA primaries, ODM Chairman Fernandes Barasa announced that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will back United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate David Ndakwa in the upcoming Malava Parliamentary by-election scheduled for November 27, 2025.
The cross-party support aims to consolidate votes for Ndakwa, ensuring his victory and continuation of development projects started by the late MP Malulu Injendi.
Barasa emphasised the strategic nature of the decision, linking it to broader coalition objectives.
“Na mimi nataka kuambia watu wa Malava ya kwamba kama wana ODM, kwa sababu tumetilia mkazo mambo ya Broad Based Government, tulisema hatutaweka candidate hapa Malava, na tuko nyuma ya candidate wetu wa Broad Based, David Ndakwa,” he said.
Peter Ndakwa now is the official flag bearer of the UDA party. It is set to face DAP-K candidate Seth Panyako and DCP’s Edgar Busiega in the upcoming by-elections.
