Eugene Wamalwa condoles with Wetang’ula after his brother’s death
By Joel Masibo, December 10, 2025Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP–K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has expressed his condolences to the family of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi following the death of their brother, James Mukhwana Wetang’ula.
Wamalwa conveyed his sympathies through a message shared on his official social media platforms on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. He joined friends, political leaders and supporters from across the country in mourning the late Mukhwana, describing his passing as a profound loss to the wider Wetang’ula family.
The former Cabinet Secretary noted that the family has lost a respected elder whose contribution and presence had long been valued within their community. His message added to the growing wave of condolences pouring in since news of the death was announced.

“My deepest condolences to my brother Moses Wetangula and Tim Wanyonyi and the entire Wetang’ula family on the loss of their Simakulu James Mukhwana Wetang’ula. Eternal rest grant him, Oh Lord, may perpetual light shine upon him, may he rest in peace”
Joho’s tribute
Mining and blue economy cs Hassan Joho has also extended his heartfelt condolences to National Assembly Speaker Moses Masika Wetang’ula and Westlands MP Timothy Wanyonyi following the death of their brother, James Mukhwana.
Joho described the loss as deeply painful, noting that Mukhwana’s passing has left a significant void within the family and among all who cherished him. He encouraged the family to draw strength from one another and to find comfort in the memories they shared with their loved one.
“I extend my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to you, my brothers, National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Moses Masika Wetang’ula, and Westlands MP Hon. Timothy Wanyonyi during this profoundly difficult time following the passing of your beloved brother, James Mukhwana,” Joho said
Wetangula’s tribute
This comes after the National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, who penned a heartfelt tribute following the passing of his elder brother.
“It is with deep sorrow that I announce the passing of my dear elder brother, James Mukhwana Wetang’ula. A retired teacher of great humility, discipline, and wisdom, James touched many lives,” part of his tribute stated.
Wetang’ula parted his tribute by asking for support for his larger family during the trying times of personal tragedy.
“We kindly ask for your prayers and support as we mourn his passing and honour his life. May his soul rest in eternal peace.” It has been a troubling year for the Wetang’ula family since January, when they buried their mother, Anna Nanyama Wetang’ula
