DP Kindiki: Ministerial coherence key in achieving Kenya Kwanza’s agenda
By Kiplagat Sang, November 19, 2024
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has said coherence at ministerial levels is key for Kenya Kwanza to deliver its agenda to the people.
Kinidki joined President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, during the signing of the performance contracts by the Cabinet Secretaries.
To the DP, the signing of performance contracts by CS is a key mechanism in delivering services to the people.
“Our Constitution creates an elaborate mechanism for accountability for all people delegated with authority to work for the people of Kenya. To deliver on the pillars of the Kenya Kwanza Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda, we must build coherence among all the arms and institutions of government.
“We are expected to ensure that all the commitments made and outlined in the performance contracts are fulfilled. Accountability demands channels of reporting back on what each ministry, state agency, or constitutional commission sets out to deliver and what is achieved,” Kindiki said in a statement posted on X.
He said that government officials must work harder in order to deliver the agenda of the government.
“To realise a more harmonious, cohesive, and equitably developed country, we must work harder, faster, and more efficiently to align all the commitments contained in the performance contracts for effective delivery of the transformation agenda,” he added.
Ruto’s assurance
As Kindiki called for a more coherent working relationship between government agencies, Ruto assured that he would work hard to make Kenya successful.
“I promise you, we will confound the naysayers. This country will not fail; it will succeed. The enemies of Kenya will be put to shame.
“Although we are in a difficult place economically, I am confident we have the team, the people, and the plan and goodwill to transform the nation. There’s no room for failure. We must succeed.
“This home that God has given us, we must work tirelessly to make it succeed, to make it great,” Ruto said.
The Head of State also explained why the contract signing by his CSs is key.
“One ministry affects the overall performance of government. Therefore, it is our collective responsibility to make sure that using the whole-of-government approach we endure, we build the necessary synergy to succeed together.
“Over the years, performance contracting has proven to be a robust accountability framework ensuring the effective use of public resources to meet the constitutional mandate and citizens’ expectations,” he stated.
