Dorcas Gachagua: I paid for our first date after meeting Gachagua
Dorcas Gachagua, the spouse of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has stated that she was the one who paid for their first dinner date after meeting him.
While speaking during an interview on a local TV station on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, she stated that she never wanted their relationship to appear one-sided and wanted them to be seen as equal partners.

“When we met, I never allowed Riggy G to buy me the first dinner; I bought him, and I did it deliberately. I wanted a man who would see me as an equal partner within the relationship,” she said.
Commitment to tithe
Gachagua has always established himself as a family man and has never shied away from expressing his love for his wife and children.
Recently, while his wife was being ordained as a reverend after serving as a bishop for a long time, he said that he has always supported her in her clerical work, stating that he gives 10 per cent of every income they earn as a family to her.

“And I want to thank my children for agreeing that we always support Dorcas in her ministry. From our family earnings, the boys and I always give 10% to Pastor Dorcas to go and do her ministry. So she reminds us all the time, and we are persuaded that she does the right thing,” Gachagua said.
Gachagua went on to state that even during the troubled 2022 presidential campaigns, whenever he used to sell property for his campaign work, he would always spare 10 per cent of the amount to support his wife in her clerical work, saying that it has become a family tradition.
In the same forum, Dorcas Gachagua has shared advice for Kenyans on the importance of surrounding themselves with positive influences and avoiding people who drain their energy.
“The Company You Keep. As believers, the company we keep can significantly impact our success and failure. It’s crucial to surround ourselves with people who uplift and support us, while avoiding those who drain our energy,” Pastor Dorcas said.
