Coronavirus: Counties to put up isolation facilities as cases rise to 355

Health Cabinet Administrative Secretary Rashid Aman on Sunday announced the plans to put up isolation centers for Covid-19 as cases rose to 355. Since yesterday, the Health Ministry has confirmed 12 more cases.

Eight of the new cases are from Nairobi and four 4 from Mombasa County.

The CAS also announced testing of transit truck drivers at all border points to prevent transmissions into and from the country.

Mr Aman asked County Governments to increase their testing and treatment personnel by training more health workers.

Yesterdays Measures

President Uhuru Kenyatta on April 25 announced extension of movement cessation for further 21 days to contain the spread of coronavirus.

The cessation affects Nairobi Metropolitan area, Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Mandela Counties. Mandela County was the last to be locked after seven cases were reported there two days ago.

While making the announcement at State House Nairobi, President Uhuru said more stringent measures would be taken but, at County level

“We will take more stringent measures at County level to control the spread of this virus,” said the Head of State.

The President also extended the 7pm-5am curfew with 21 more days.
