Cop arrested over murder of Leeds student Carilton Maina in Kibera
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives on Wednesday arrested a police constable for shooting a man in Kibera, Laini Saba on December 21, 2018.
According to the DCI, Constable Emmanuel Ambunya attached to Kenyatta National Hospital shot Carlton David Maina who later succumbed.
At the time, Maina was a student at University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.
According to BBC News, the 23-year-old scholar had returned to Kenya from West Yorkshire where he was studying electronic engineering at the university.
After the shooting, Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) launched investigations where the Inspector General assured that the police would enforce the outcome of the investigations.
Ambunya will be arraigned at Milimani Law Courts Thurday, April 16.
