Caleb Amisi has come out to dismiss the narrative circulating that links the attack on Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi in Kisumu to a love affair.

While speaking during his visit to Karen Hospital on Thursday, April 9, 2026, where the senator is hospitalised and receiving treatment, Caleb Amisi debunked the claims, questioning whether the Linda Mwananchi tour they held in Kakamega, where, according to them, goons were also present at Kisumu Airport and wanted to attack them, forcing them to seek alternative routes, was also a love affair.

According to the outspoken MP, it is a sponsored narrative aimed at diverting the public from the real cause of the attack.

“And to those who are trying to single out the attack on Godfrey Osotsi as a love affair, I see some sponsorship across social media attempting to portray it that way. When these goons were paraded at Kisumu Airport, the entire airport was full of them during the Linda Mwananchi tour. What love affair was there?”

He went ahead to link the attack on the senator to a high-ranking government official, saying that the individual should be held accountable for Osotsi’s attack.

Kibagendi slams love-affair narrative

The same had earlier been echoed by Kitutu Chache South MP Anthony Kibagendi, who also came out to dismiss the narrative, terming it as a desperate move by the state to try and link Osotsi’s attack to a love triangle. He further added that it is being peddled by State House to malign the reputation of Osotsi.

“The other thing that is worrying me is that government-sponsored bloggers have quickly come up with a narrative trying to tarnish the name of Senator Osotsi, claiming that he was violently attacked because of a love triangle. This is a weak scheme by the government. We know this is what you resort to every time you are cornered.” MP Kibagendi

His area MP in Luanda, Dick Maungu, has also come out to condemn the love affair narrative, saying it appears to be well orchestrated and planned to divert the public.

Osotsi’s attack

This comes a day after Osotsi was attacked in Kisumu while in a hotel, where, according to CCTV footage obtained from the restaurant, he was holding a conversation with a lady who is yet to be identified before being brutally attacked.

The incident left him with injuries that saw him being rushed to Aga Khan Hospital for treatment before being airlifted to Nairobi and admitted to Karen Hospital for specialised care.

United opposition leaders led by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka have visited him in hospital, where he continues to recuperate, condemning the incident and calling for thorough investigations to begin and the perpetrators to be brought to book.
