The stage is set for President William Ruto’s two-day tour of Bungoma County, with preparations in top gear.

On Sunday, the president will officially open the county assembly building before holding inter-denominational prayers at the Bungoma airstrip.

Industrial park

According to area governor Ken Lusaka the president will on Monday launch the county aggregated industrial park at Sang’alo in Kanduyi constituency.

“The Industrial Park will cost Sh500 million with the county and national governments each donating Sh250 million,” said Lusaka.

He said the president will also inspect construction works at Chepkurkur Technical Training Institute in Mt Elgon sub-county.

He will later the same day launch the Bungoma North Technical Training Institute in Tongaren sub-county before inspecting the ongoing works on the Misikhu-Brigedier tarmac road.

Lusaka said the head of state will then wrap up his tour at Nzoia sugar factory where he will meet farmers. “People have been speculating about the state of affairs at the ailing sugar factory, the president will tell us plans the government has for the factory,” said Lusaka.
