Bumula lawmaker decries poor development ahead of Madaraka Day fete

As Bungoma county gears towards holding this year’s Madaraka Day event Bumula MP Jack Wamboka has said residents have nothing to celebrate.
The MP claimed that the area had been sidelined both in development and with job opportunities.
Speaking at Nang’eni Primary School when he made donations to informal traders in the area, Wamboka said the county lagged behind in development despite voting for President William Ruto in the last Election.
According to Wamboka, residents expected expansion of roads ahead of the celebrations.
He said at such a time the county could be experiencing a lot of development in terms of infrastructure and other related activities.
“When other counties hold such national public holidays there are a lot of infrastactural development and other goodies but here, there is little that is going on”said Wamboka.
The DAP -K lawmaker wondered why the government was only tarmacking 6km of roads when the county was going to host such an important occasion.
“In Kericho where the Jamhuri Day celebrations were held last year, the government constructed 46 tarmac roads, but when it comes to Bungoma we are only given 6km”wondered Wamboka.
He said the Kenya Kwanza government has been giving the county a raw deal despite voting for it overwhelmingly.
Wamboka said the area was not also being considered in terms of development as other regions reap big.
“Leaders in other regions are being handed over employment letters to go and dish to their people but here in Bungoma is nothing”lamented Wamboka.
He asked the local leaders to stand up and demand for their share but not to clap for those benefitting.
