Azimio threaten to file impeachment motion against Agriculture CS
Azimio MPs have vowed to send agriculture cabinet secretary Mithika Linturi home over fake fertiliser.
Led by Bumula MP Jack Wamboka, Antony Kibagendi (Kitutu Chache), Catherine Omanyo (Busia woman rep), Caleb Amisi (Saboti), Mark Mwenje (Embakasi) and Gathoni wa Muchomba (Kithunguri) said they had given president Ruto up to Tuesday to sack him or they file an impeachment motion.
They claimed that the president was quiet as farmers suffer in the hands of Linturi.
“President Ruto must swing into action and sack Linturi or else he was also behind the saga,” said Wamboka.
Omanyo claimed that there was no way the fake fertiliser could be supplied to farmers without the knowledge of the President.
Mwanje said during the Jubilee Government rule, where Ruto was the deputy president, two cabinet secretaries who failed in their mandate were sacked.
“Roads cabinet secretary Michael Kamau and his agriculture counterpart Felix Kosgey were sacked by then President Uhuru Kenyatta. How special is Linturi?” posed Mwenje.
The MP said there was a lot of confusion being witnessed in the ministry of agriculture and that the only remedy is to fire Linturi.
Wamboka said they had finalised all the processes and by tomorrow, they will file impeachment motion against the CS.
“We can’t accept Linturi to mess up with the agriculture sector and in silence,” warned Wamboka.
The Bumula MP regretted that the president was protecting Linturi at the expense of farmers.
Wa Muchomba blamed the government for subjecting its citizen to sufferings.
“The Kenya Kwanza has failed to pay doctors, it has also failed to give out money for free education and the burden of taxing farmers harvest,” said Wa Muchomba.
The UDA MP also demanded that the government reinstate the Linda Mama programme started by former president.
He castigated the government for claiming that the programme will be returned in July wondering how the current pregnant mothers will survive.
