Search and recovery operations following a building collapse in Olenairi area of Ngong have officially been concluded, the Kenya Red Cross Society has confirmed.

In a statement on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, the humanitarian agency said all the four individuals who had been trapped beneath the rubble were successfully recovered during the multi-agency rescue operation.

“Search and recovery operations following the building collapse in Olenairi, Ngong, Kajiado County, have officially concluded,” the organisation said.

“All individuals who had been trapped beneath the rubble were successfully recovered during the multi-agency operation.”

The collapse had prompted an emergency response involving rescue teams, local authorities and humanitarian agencies working to locate and retrieve victims from the debris.

Kenya Red Cross said its personnel remained at the scene throughout the operation to support rescue efforts and assist affected families.

“Kenya Red Cross teams remained on-site throughout the operation, supporting response efforts and standing with the affected families during this difficult time,” the organisation stated.

Authorities had yet to publicly disclose the cause of the collapse by the time rescue operations were concluded.

The incident adds to growing concerns over building safety and enforcement of construction standards in parts of the country, particularly in rapidly expanding urban and peri-urban areas.

On Tuesday, the agency was involved in another rescue operation after another building collapsed in Tom Mboya Estate in Kisumu.
