By , June 16, 2023

The 10-year term of University of Eldoret (UoE) Vice-Chancellor Prof Teresa Akenga which was rocked by controversy has come to an end.

Akenga’s term was marked by numerous strikes and resistance by some North Rift leaders who claimed bias in the recruitment of staff at the institution. In a notice to students and staff by the university council chairman Ismail Buro Hassan, the university thanked Akenga (below) for “her exemplary work” during her tenure.

“The growth has caused the recognition of the university both locally and globally as a premier institution of higher learning,” Hassan said.

Prof Wilson Kipkoech Ng’etich has been appointed as the acting vice-chancellor effective June 9 until a substantive VC is appointed.
