4 nabbed, rolls of bhang seized in police drug crackdown in Embu
A multi-agency security team has intensified a crackdown on drugs in Embu County, leading to the arrest of four persons of interest during a targeted operation in Embu Township.
According to the statement by the National Police Service on Sunday, April 19, 2026, officers conducted a coordinated raid on a suspected drug den, where the four individuals were apprehended inside the premises.

“In a recent operation conducted within Embu Township, officers executed a targeted raid on a suspected drug den. During the operation, four persons of interest were apprehended inside the premises,” the NPS report stated.
Items recovered
A search of the house yielded 549 rolls of cannabis sativa, alongside a metallic container believed to be a grinder used in processing the substance, among other items.
“A thorough search of the house led to the recovery of several exhibits, including 549 rolls of cannabis sativa, a metallic container believed to be a grinder used in the processing of cannabis, among other items,” NPS said.
According to the police, all persons of interest were taken to Embu Police Station, where they are still being held awaiting arraignment.

All items recovered were secured as exhibits to assist in ongoing investigations and future court proceedings.
“The persons of interest were arrested and escorted to Embu Police Station, where they are currently being held in custody pending arraignment. All recovered items were secured and logged as exhibits, and are now safely stored to support ongoing investigations and subsequent legal proceedings,” NPS stated.
NPS commitment
“This operation underscores the continuity and consistency of multi-agency interventions in addressing drug-related offences in Embu County,” NPS said.
The crackdown is part of a nationwide operation sanctioned by President William Ruto aimed at curbing the drug abuse and trafficking menace in the country. The president, together with the Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, has vowed to tackle the drug abuse menace, even calling for tougher measures to arrest the vice.
