The National Police Service (NPS) has confirmed that its nationwide recruitment of 10,000 police constables will take place on Monday, November 17, 2025. The exercise will run from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at all 427 recruitment centres across Kenya. The Service described it as a one-day exercise and urged all qualified youth to participate.

In a press release on Friday, November 14, 2025, NPS spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga said the recruitment will form a new cohort expected to support the ongoing reform agenda in the service.

“The recruitment is confirmed to proceed as scheduled from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm at all 427 centres across the country,” the statement read.

The recruitment follows an advertisement placed on October 31, 2025, inviting suitably qualified youth to apply. The NPS highlighted that the exercise is free and open to all eligible candidates. It warned that any form of bribery or corruption would attract legal action.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

Be a Kenyan citizen with a valid national ID.

Be aged 18 to 28 years.

Have a minimum KCSE grade of D+, with at least D+ in English or Kiswahili.

Be physically and medically fit.

Meet minimum height requirements: 5 ft 8 in for men, 5 ft 3 in for women.

Have no criminal record.

Female applicants must not be pregnant during recruitment or training.

NYS also invited

The NPS also encouraged National Youth Service (NYS) graduates who meet the criteria to apply.

For NYS alumni, the NHU Grounds in Ruaraka, Nairobi, will serve as a dedicated recruitment centre.

Applicants must present their valid NYS discharge certificate to access the venue.

Changes in recruitment venues

Some centres have had changes. In Kamukunji Sub-County, Nairobi, the original venue at Kamukunji Sports Grounds was deemed unfit due to construction work. The exercise will now take place at Morrison Primary School to accommodate all candidates.

The recruitment was briefly halted by the High Court following a petition by activist Eliud Matindi, who argued that the National Police Service Commission (NPSC), not the Inspector General, has the mandate to conduct recruitment. On November 14, 2025, Justice Bahati Mwamuye lifted the conservatory orders, allowing the exercise to proceed.

How to apply

Interested candidates were required to download and complete the prescribed Police Constable Application Form from the official NPS recruitment portal before the recruitment date.

Applicants were required to upload scanned copies of their ID, KCSE certificates, birth certificate, passport photo, and any additional testimonials. Shortlisted candidates would be contacted via SMS, email, or through the recruitment portal.

Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen has emphasised transparency and warned that anyone caught attempting to bribe officials will be arrested. He encouraged communities to act as observers to ensure integrity in the process.

This Kenya Police recruitment 2025 exercise is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security services and enhance the country’s policing capacity. Candidates are reminded to report to their centres by 8:00 am sharp and to carry all necessary documents for verification.
