Let’s allow police time to discharge their duties

Despite public criticism of the police during anti-government protests over the past one month, especially because of the shooting deaths of demonstrators, officers in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, have shown that they can effectively discharge their roles.
In one example of successful police investigations, officers from the Eldoret Central Police Station on Monday announced that they had recovered 59 motorcycles and 35 engine parts stolen from bodaboda operators in Uasin Gishu and surrounding counties.
The owners of the motorocycleds had made reports at various police stations. Responding to these reports, police officers have shown that they are willing and able to track down stolen property and keep the public and their property safe.
The victims of the motorcycle theft s showed gratitude for the work done by the police. The Eldoret motorcycle theft case has proved that police can do their work well if given time and the right reports.
This is therefore a wake-up call for the public to give the police ample time to perform their duties of keeping the public and their property secure.
The public should also ensure that they don’t allow goons to take advantage of the peaceful Gen Z protests to loot and destroy property.
