‘Whoever OKA candidates shall support will become president’ – Sakaja says

By , November 25, 2021

Nairobi County Senator Johnson Sakaja has claimed that whoever One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals shall support will clinch the Presidency come 2022.

In an interview with a local television station, Sakaja orated that whoever between Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga is supported by OKA principals will win the presidential race.

“In case OKA decides to support any other candidate, they will win the election and if they decide to back Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga or Deputy President William Ruto, one of them will become President,” Sakaja said.

Sakaja reiterated that the One Kenya Alliance cannot go it alone in the 2022 presidential race, hence the coalition could influence and determine who becomes the next president come 2022.

The Senator further stated that based on statistics, the alliance is likely to garner four million votes at next year’s polls if either of the OKA’s principals decide to vie for the presidency.

Sakaja revealed how back in 2013 DP Ruto had a difficult time asserting to his Rift Valley supporters at Eldoret Sports Club on why he had to make the decision to support President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant cited that numbers played a part in DP Ruto’s move to support President Kenyatta move.

“It was not an easy decision for DP Ruto, but he had to make it. He looked at the numbers, the political trajectory and his age as a politician, hence the political move,” Sakaja said.

Sakaja further ruled out a possibility of a Mudavadi and Ruto merger, given that in Kenyan politics, anything can happen.

“In politics, anything can happen, Mudavadi could make a decision of being DP Ruto’s running mate and Kalonzo can also decide to be anyone’s deputy, but the only danger is to make a political move without your stronghold,” Sakaja said.

The OKA team includes, Kalonzo Musyoka, Gideon Moi, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula
