Which way Martha Karua?

Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua is currently a politician in limbo following the recent political unfoldings. In what political observers term as fence-sitting, the ex-Gichugu MP is yet to throw her weight behind either of the two front-runners in the Uhuru succession race. The race, which is fast gaining momentum, has seen several political realignments.
It is noteworthy that Karua’s partners in the One Kenya Alliance have since inked an agreement with the Raila-led Azimio La Umoja movement.
Her partners; Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, KANU supremo Gideon Moi and Cyrus Jirongo were among the leaders who signed a coalition agreement at KICC, binding them to Raila’s Azimio La Umoja movement.
The move by the OKA trio left Martha Karua as the only unattached political player in the nascent coalition. Queried about her absence at the Azimio event, the ex-Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs stated on her Twitter account that she was relaxing at home.
Mount Kenya Unity Forum
Martha’s partners at a separate organization, dubbed the Mt Kenya Unity Forum, have also officially thrown their weight behind the candidature of Deputy President William Ruto.
The unity forum brought together Karua with TSP party leader Mwangi Kiunjuri, Former Kiambu county governor William Kabogo, Chama Cha Kazi party leader Moses Kuria and businessman Jimi Wanjigi.
The Mt Kenya Unity Forum quartet has on Tuesday, March 15 avowed their support to Ruto at the United Democratic Alliance convention. Their move leaves Martha Karua as the only unattached member of the formation that constitutes several party leaders of political outfits in the vote-rich region.
The ex-lawmaker has remained cagey about her next political direction despite mounting pressure. Speaking yesterday after media outlets reported that she was set to attend the UDA NDC meeting, Karua affirmed that she did not intend to grace the convention and labeled the reports as fake and unfounded. The Narc Kenya party leader is yet to detach herself from the two political formations and has not commented on the decisions that her respective partners have made.
