Governor Kenneth Lusaka has expressed confidence that the Western region will rally overwhelmingly behind President William Ruto in the 2027 general elections, declaring that the ‘Mulembe’ nation is now fully united in support of the Head of State.

Speaking during a women empowerment fundraiser held at Mayuba Stadium in Sirisia, Lusaka stated that the days of political divisions in Western Kenya are over.

According to him, elected leaders from the region have closed ranks and are backing Ruto’s re-election bid.

“President Ruto is poised for a resounding victory. If he could defeat a united front of Uhuru and Raila, what chance does this fractured opposition have?” posed Lusaka.

The governor further dismissed the current opposition as weak and disorganised, adding that Ruto’s development agenda and political muscle make him the clear front-runner.

Lusaka urged the Luhya community to continue supporting Ruto’s leadership, noting that the region stands to benefit significantly from his administration in terms of development and representation.

He also took the opportunity to highlight the progress made under his leadership in Bungoma, citing improvements in infrastructure, youth empowerment, healthcare, and agriculture.

Speaking at the same event, Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wah dismissed the opposition’s criticism over the women empowerment programmes spearheaded by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and President William Ruto’s aide Farouk Kibet.

The National Assembly Majority Leader accused the opposition of scripting narrations aimed at watering down the fundraising programs in the country.

During the Sirisia funds drive, Western leaders led by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, Cooperatives and MSMEs Cabinet Secretary and former Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya rallied Western residents to rally behind one leader so that they direct votes in one basket.

“The presidency has just reached here at Turbo. If we put plans very well, we can produce the next head of state. Let us be united and rally behind one leader,” Wetang’ula said in his address.
