Narc Kenya Party leader Martha Karua has announced that her political party will be rebranding to a new outfit.

Speaking on Saturday, January 25, 2025, when she hosted former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at her Kimunye home in Kirinyaga County, Karua said that she had advised members of her political camp not to introduce themselves with the Narc Kenya that everyone knows, because a new brand will be unveiled soon.

Karua announced that although she has led Narc Kenya for a long time, she will be launching the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) in February 2025.

She further stated that she had kicked off the process of rebranding in May 2024, only that the process is coming to a conclusion now.

“You heard me telling my people not to introduce themselves with the name of the party you have known. I have been the leader of Narc Kenya, but we have rebranded. We will be launching our brand soon, next month in February, and the name is People’s Liberation Party (PLP). Na msifikirie tumeapply jana, we applied for those names in May last year, long before there were protests, but the process is just becoming complete,” Karua announced.

She went ahead to state that she was aware of Gachagua’s plans to unveil a political party and invited him to join her new party instead, stating that it would accommodate everyone.

However, Karua noted that Gachagua can still go ahead and launch his political outfit and work together with her ahead of 2027.

2027 alliances

She, moreover, signalled a push to build new alliances ahead of the 2027 General Election as she hinted at a possibility of her party teaming up with Gachagua’s outfit and come up with one flag bearer that will face off with President William Ruto.

“I know my brother will also be launching, but I am inviting you all. PLP ni nyumba kubwa; mkisikia mnataka kuingia, njooni tutembee. Mkiform ingine hata hiyo hatukatai because we will still work together,” she said.

“I also said that I will be vying for the presidency, but this time round we want to say the nation is greater than any of our ambitions. Allow me to grow my ambition for the presidency and grow my brand; let my brother somewhere else grow their brand; let everybody else grow their brand, but we must know at the back of our mind that as we near that time, we will come together and get one flag bearer.”

Gachagua on working with Karua

During the event, Gachagua confirmed that he will be working with Karua going forward.

Gachagua said that his political camp will be regularly consulting Karua based on her extensive experience in politics, public service, and legal matters.

Gachagua further stated that his camp will also work with other like-minded Kenyans.

Gachagua also expressed his gratitude to Karua for hosting him together with his team, noting that he would leave Kirinyaga a happy man for having reunited with his 2022 presidential election opponent.

He expressed confidence that the country would be liberated if Kenyans decided to join hands and work together.

“We have had a good conversation, and we have agreed that going forward we are going to work together with other Kenyans. I want to assure you that many Kenyans are looking for leadership. We will work together with like-minded Kenyans, patriots, and people who care for this country. We shall benefit a lot from her counsel; we will consult her regularly alongside other Kenyans of goodwill so that we liberate this country,” Gachagua stated.
