The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Chairperson, Gladys Wanga, has voiced the party’s commitment to holding fair and credible party primaries ahead of the upcoming by-elections across the nation.

Speaking on Friday, September 12, 2025, during the unveiling of its candidates for upcoming byelections, Wanga affirmed that the party was all set and yearning for the electoral contest.

“For the candidates in wards and constituencies where we will be conducting nominations, we will begin that process very credible. The coordinating committee is independent and will run its own operations as we run other affairs of the party,” she stated

She also assured the various candidates of the party’s goodwill and continued support heading to the vital mid-term elections.

“We are starting our journey, we are prepared and ready with our candidates. We will leave no stone unturned to campaign in every corner of the country and will be well supported,” she stated.

Wanga also maintained that the party remains keen to win as many seats as it can as it seeks to cement its dominance in the Kenyan political landscape.

“We want to show that ODM remain the largest party and we will retain our seats and hope to get more seats in the polls,” she added.

Her sentiments were echoed by Minority leader Junet Mohammed, who reiterated that the party was focused on making a good show in the mini-polls.

Among those set to contest with the party tickets are Harrison Kombe for the Magarini parliamentary seat.

Others are Thomas Oyolo who will contest the Kisa East ward seat.

The foregoing comes days after ODM politician and Home Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma tipped both the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to win the scheduled by-elections across the country

Kaluma’s remarks came after Leonard Muthende was nominated as the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate for the Mbeere North by-election, with ODM and UDA having agreed to approach the election on a united front under the Broad-based spirit.

“Congratulations, Hon. Leonard Muthende, on your nomination as the UDA candidate in the Mbeere by-election. The Broad-Based Government is winning in all scheduled contests!” Kaluma posted on X on Sunday, September 7, 2025.
