Former Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu Baba Yao says he is ready to face off with Thika Town MP Patrick Wainaina ‘Wa-Jungle’ in the fight for the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket.

The two who are eyeing the Kiambu gubernatorial seat in next year’s elections are expected to go for the UDA party nomination in what promises to be a bruising battle.

“I will be seeking the UDA party nomination and the people will decide who becomes the flag-bearer. I am not afraid of anyone since it is the people of Kiambu who will vote for their candidate and not a clique of a few individuals,” said Waititu.

So far, only Waititu and Wainaina, who defected to UDA less than two weeks ago, have declared they will be contesting for the seat under Deputy President William Ruto’s party.

Both incumbent Governor James Nyoro and Senator Kimani Wamatangi who  are also in the race have not shown any signs of leaving the ruling Jubilee party. Kiambu’s first governor William Kabogo is reported to be seeking a comeback through his Tujibebe Wakenya Party.

Wainaina and Waititu have met twice in as many weeks during Ruto’s meetings in Kiambu.
