City lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo has weighed in on the decision of his wife, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru to join the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

Waiganjo, on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, said that he fully supports Waiguru’s decision to ditch President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party.

“I support her 110 per cent. That is her decision. Respect demands that I support her,” Waiganjo stated, adding that this was solely Waiguru’s decision, to which she had the right and freedom to make.

Waiganjo could not fathom why people assume that women leaders need their spouses around while making political decisions given that no one asks wives about their husbands’ political decisions.

“Why do people assume women leader’s needs men hand holding yet no one asks wives about their husband’s political decision?” Waiganjo posed.

The city lawyer also refuted reports circulating on social media alleging that he would neither support her nor the DP’s UDA party in the 2022 general elections.

Waiguru ditched Jubilee party for Ruto’s UDA party in an event that took place in Karen earlier today.

Pushed to the wall by the shifting political ground in Mt Kenya, Governor Waiguru made the political move amid speculations from political pundits that the governor would have lost her seat if she attempted to defend it under the Jubilee party.

The county chief had signalled her exit from the ruling party and entry into Ruto’s party last month.
