Wahome Thuku reveals narrative Ruto has adopted to win 2027 bid
After using the hustler-versus-dynasties narrative to win the 2022 presidential contest against opposition leader Raila Odinga, President William Ruto has now adopted a new political storyline ahead of the 2027 General Election, according to lawyer Wahome Thuku.
In a post shared on Facebook on Sunday, December 14, 2025, Wahome argued that the President is gradually rolling out what he described as the “Singapore narrative,” which he believes will form the backbone of Ruto’s 2027 re-election campaign.
Wahome speaks on the Singapore movement

Wahome portrayed the Head of State as a master political tactician who carefully introduces ideas before fully branding them into a nationwide movement.
“The Singapore analogy is the new ‘hustler’ narrative 2027 by William Samoei Ruto. He is giving us Singapore ideas in doses,” Wahome wrote.
He suggested that Kenyans should expect phrases such as “Singapore Movement” and “Twende Singapore” to soon dominate political messaging, accompanied by campaign songs and slogans built around the idea of a Kenyan version of Singapore.
In his satirical but pointed commentary, Wahome further claimed that Ruto could even organise a high-profile youth exchange programme, sending 47 young people, each representing a county, to Singapore.
According to Wahome, such an initiative could be framed as an economic empowerment partnership, complete with charters signed between Kenyan and Singaporean youth groups under banners like “Young Economic Transformers.”

“Twenty Twenty Seven, you will all be heading to polling stations to vote for the ‘Singapore Dream,’” Wahome remarked.
Ruto tours Kiambu County
Wahome’s remarks come against the backdrop of President Ruto’s continued emphasis on economic growth and infrastructure development.
On Sunday, the President took to Facebook after attending a church service in Kiambu County, where he outlined progress made under his administration.
“The journey of transforming Kenya is charging forward at full speed across all our 47 counties,” Ruto said.

He cited Kiambu as an example, noting that the government has invested more than KSh4.5B in the construction of 30 modern markets in under 3 years, describing it as the largest market infrastructure programme in the country.
Ruto also reiterated that his KSh5 trillion National Economic Independence Project aims to generate jobs, create wealth and elevate Kenya to first-world status.
During the visit, he inspected the Ksh380M Kamwangi Modern Market, expected to be completed by March 2026 and accommodate over 1,500 traders.
As political temperatures rise, Wahome’s analysis suggests that economic aspiration symbolised by the “Singapore Dream” could define the next phase of Kenya’s political contest.
