Lawyer Wahome Thuku has now asked Kenyans of goodwill to help him locate the people who are paying individuals in President William Ruto’s government to make political about-turns.

Through his Facebook account on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, where he has delivered a series of posts, Wahome has categorically denied being on Ruto’s payroll.

He has stated that the work he is doing in calling out the Democracy for Citizens Party leader, Rigathi Gachagua, and opposition figures has been driven purely by concern for the country.

He has also maintained that his colleagues, including former Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, are not being paid either.

Wahome has said he finds the claims amusing and continues to question where such rumours originate.

Wahome denies being paid

“By the way, in the Ruto government, who exactly pays people? Even the famous Bishop Kiengei is asking for connections to the dining table.

“You people who were there from 2022 should tell us,” part of Wahome’s post reads.

“He has disclosed that he has never met officials in the current regime and last saw the Interior CS at the funeral of journalist Rita Tinina.

He has added that even his friends in the State House have not interacted with him for close to a decade.

In addition, Wahome has narrated an encounter with a legislator from Mt Kenya who encouraged him to monetise his political commentary.

“Two weeks ago, a female MP from Molima, who is a serious Ruto supporter, called me very early in the morning and we spoke for about fifteen minutes.

“She told me this, ‘Wahome Thuku, commercialise your politics. Make money out of it. You are answerable to no one,” Wahome wrote on Facebook.

He has said he is still processing that advice.

Says nothing has been earned

However, Wahome has maintained that he has never commercialised his political work.

“I have never done it. I want to find out how to do it and why she picked on me. I think I have lived like a Luo politician.

“After thirty years in politics, all they come out with are good intellectual English phrases.”

He has wondered who is supposedly paying him, sarcastically saying he suspects someone else might be enjoying the money on his behalf.

That aside, Wahome has added that being paid by a sitting president would be breaking news.

He concluded by joking that since people already assume he is paid, he might as well look for a way to actually get paid, noting, “Na nikilipwa tutakula na nyinyi.
