Uhuru joins Moi’s family in marking his second death anniversary, asks leaders to embrace unity in line with Moi’s beliefs
The family of Kenya’s ex-president Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi has on Friday February 4, 2022 marked the second anniversary of his passing in a memorial service held in Kabarak, Nakuru county.
Led by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, the family stated that they cherish the memories they shared with the former Head of State and that they will strive to live by the values of honesty, discipline, industry and strong Christian faith that he nurtured and inculcated in them.
“It’s been two years since Mzee went to be with the Lord. We still cherish his memories as a family and strive to live by the values of honesty, discipline, industry and strong Christian faith he nurtured and inculcated in us,” the senator, who is among Moi’s sons, posted.
The memorial service was graced by notable political figures and government officials. Among the notable figures in attendance were One Kenya Alliance principals, who attended in solidarity with their co-principal.
President Uhuru Kenyatta also sent in his tribute to the late President, asking politicians to preach unity and peace in line with the beliefs of the departed Head of State.
“In Memory of the second President of the Republic, I urge all leaders of our country to continue uniting and building Kenya by improving on the foundation that President Moi helped to establish. As we head into the General Election in August of this year, let us remember Mzee Moi’s mantra on the political environment; that ‘siasa mbaya, maisha mbaya,’ which translates to (bad political decisions ruin lives),” Uhuru’s tribute read in part.
