UDA has registered 9,165 aspirants seeking party tickets for 2027 – Kindiki
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has confirmed that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has recorded 9,165 aspirants seeking the party ticket for the 2027 general elections.
The announcement came through his social media channels on Monday, February 2, 2026, days after the party opened its aspirants forum for anyone interested in registering for the UDA ticket ahead of the main forum to be held at State House on Wednesday, February 4, 2025.

With the registration deadline for party aspirants set to elapse at midnight, the exercise has so far attracted thousands of hopefuls across the country.
Out of the total, 139 aspirants are competing for the 47 gubernatorial seats, 240 for the 47 senatorial positions, 274 are targeting the 47 woman representative seats, and 1,205 are vying for the 290 National Assembly seats. The largest number, 7,307 aspirants, will compete for the 1,450 ward representative seats.
Registration for aspirants will continue until 90 days before the election date, in line with statutory requirements.
Musalia exuding confidence in UDA
Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi also came out recently on Friday, January 30, 2025, while speaking during an interview with Luhya radio stations to exude confidence in the exercise.
At that point a total of 7772 aspirants had tendered their registration through the portal. He predicted that by February 4, 2026, when the first meeting between the aspirants and the president is set to take place, a total of 12,000 people could have registered.
“Kufika usiku wa leo, wale ambao wameonyesha interest katika Kenya mzima ni 7,772, na hii number inazidi kupanda. Huwenda ikifika Jumatano itakuwa imefika 12,000 au 15,000 ya wale ambao wanatafuta kiti cha kisiasa,” Mudavadi said.
UDA aspirant forum

The announcement comes a day after the UDA aspirants forum was officially launched by the party’s National Steering Committee (NSC) under the chairmanship of party leader President William Ruto. The committee stated that the deadline for registering as an aspirant is February 2, 2025.
Notable politicians who have already registered include former Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny, who will seek to reclaim the seat he lost in 2022/
Former minister Moses Kuria has also registered as a UDA aspirant to defend his Gatundu South seat; he left to contest the governor position.
The registration exercise will culminate in an aspirants’ forum at State House, hosted by the President, on February 4, 2025.
