Tuju raises concerns over vehicles he says were trailing him

By , April 2, 2026

Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has accused the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and a lawyer of trailing him.

Speaking on Thursday, April 2, 2026, during a press briefing outside his Dari Business Park premises in Karen, Tuju claimed that the DCI was behind the two vehicles trailing him on the day of his disappearance.

Tuju maintained that he was forced to address the issue.

“I’m forced to name two individuals who are behind the two vehicles that were trailing me…,” he said.

At the time, Tuju revealed that he had filed a complaint against a lawyer on January 5 2026 and questioned why investigators had not interrogated him or other witnesses he listed.

“Why have they not found time to interrogate [the lawyer]?” he asked, adding that it had been three months since he submitted what he said were court records and evidence.

Tuju further claimed that a vehicle without number plates trailed him on the night of March 21, 2026, and alleged that some police vehicles involved in what he described as a night raid also lacked plate numbers.

Similarly, Tuju questioned previous submissions he had made to the DCI.

“If what I submitted to the DCI is false information, why have they not charged me with giving false information?” he asked.

Tuju speaks on associate

On the other hand, Tuju has revealed that his associate Steve Mwanga, had been arrested and was being held without police bond, which he said was meant to intimidate him.

“They have refused to give him a police bond, and he has not been charged,” he said.

In addition, Tuju has said that he still experiences pain from what he described as a back injury and that he was considering travelling to the United Kingdom for review.

“I may have to go to the UK for a review because on my back I have screws… that was a very sensitive operation,” Tuju said.
