Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has fired back at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over his latest remarks on the 2007/2008 post-election violence that led to fatalities and loss of property.

Sudi’s attack on Gachagua comes hours after the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader condemned an attack on children and congregants as police lobbed teargas in PCEA Kariobangi North Church on Sunday, November 30, 2025.

During the teargas incident, Rigathi Gachagua was attending a thanksgiving service organised to celebrate the victory of David Warui, who won a Member of County Assembly seat in the concluded Thursday, November 27, 2025, by-election. Gachagua described the attack on the ministers as a script well masterd by President William Ruto, referring to previous occurrences of a similar kind where the vulnerable were subjected to teargas and injuries.

‘Ruto and teargas’

”Mr Githinji, what is your obsession with attacking children in the church of Christ? In 2007/08, you burned kikuyu children and women in the Kiambaa church. The other Day, as Deputy President, you tear-gassed innocent pupils along Langata Road when they were defending their land. Today you sent police and goons to attack children in the Kariobangi PCEA church! Is it a ritual or what is it?” Gachagua took to X on Sunday, November 30, 2025, linking President William Ruto to the teargas incident.

However, MP Oscar Sudi has asked Rigathi Gachagua to stop reminding the country about the 2007/08 political unrest, saying those who were directly affected are still nursing emotional injuries.

Sudi roars

”Talk about politics, but stop touching on the post-election violence. When politicians lack ideas, they resort to the ways you have taken. Those of us who were in Uasin Gishu know what our people went through. We forgave each other, but we have not forgotten,” Sudi said.

”You did not lose a loved one, you did not lose property. Kenya is for all, you lost in Mbeere North, do not bring the by-election bitterness to the church,” Sudi added.

The legislator further claimed Rigathi Gachagua is desperate, adding that he stage-managed the teargas incident at the PCEA Kariobangi North on Sunday, November 30, 2025, for sympathy. ”Teargas in a church? Give it a rest. Everyone knows you got crushed in Mbeere. And now you’re looking for sympathy.” MP Oscar Sudi said.
