Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has stated that his Linda Mwananchi movement website has recorded just under 25,000 members one week after its launch.

In a statement shared on his social media pages on Saturday, March 21, 2026, the outspoken politician called the tally impressive.

According to him, the 25,000 members are enough to elect a person as a senator in some sparsely populated counties like Isiolo and Lamu and can also help elect MPs and various MCAs, based on 2022 data.

“We closed the week at just under 25,000 on pale.lindamwananchi.com. This is impressive, lakini perspective is muhimu. Twenty-five thousand will get you elected as an MCA in almost all wards in Kenya, as an MP in a few constituencies, and as a senator in Lamu and Isiolo counties, according to 2022 data. Mkae mkijua,” he said.

This announcement comes days after Sifuna launched the LindaMwananchi.com website to track how many people subscribe to the “Sisi Ndiyo Sifuna” slogan.

According to Sifuna, for him to vie for a top seat in 2027, as many of his supporters are pushing him to do, he must first conduct what he described as a census of his supporters.

After that, those who have not yet registered as voters must do so and assure him that they will turn up to vote on election day, should he decide to run for the top seat. He noted that while many movements of this nature have emerged before, they have not always translated into votes on polling day.

Kabla mnichoche, lazima nione takwimu. Tunataka tufanye census ya watu ambao wanajiita sifuna, tujue tuko wangapi, na mdhibitishe kwamba nyinyi ni wapiga kura na mtajitokeza kupiga kura kwa hiari yenu,” he stated.

Sifuna’s removal

This comes at a time when Edwin Sifuna is enjoying significant clout after being ousted as secretary general and later reinstated by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal (PPDT), with the case set to be mentioned on March 26, 2026.

The Linda Mwananchi team, which had taken a short hiatus for the conclusion of the Ramadhan festivities, has now announced the resumption of its political activities, with its maiden rally set to be held in Narok County, a region that has long rallied behind the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
