Senator Murango and Njeri Maina among Kenya’s best-performing leaders – Infotrak
Kirinyaga Senator James Kamau Murango and Woman Representative Njeri Maina have emerged as the country’s top-performing leaders in their respective categories in the latest national performance rankings by Infotrak.
In a report released by Infortrak on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, Murango was named Kenya’s best-performing senator at 69 per cent, while Njeri Maina was ranked the best-performing woman representative with a score of 67 per cent.
Speaking after receiving the recognition, the senator described the award as a shared achievement for the entire county.
“I am deeply humbled by this recognition. My heartfelt gratitude goes to my family, my dedicated team, and above all, the great people of Kirinyaga for your unwavering trust, support and confidence in my leadership. This nomination belongs to all of you,” Murango said.

Murango also congratulated Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina after she was recognised as Kenya’s Best Performing Woman Representative, saying the honour reflected her dedication to public service and commitment to the people she represents.
Leadership qualities
For her part, Njeri Maina said winning the award for the third consecutive year was both humbling and inspiring, noting that it underscored the confidence Kenyans have in youthful leadership.
“This award is a testament to the collective power of a community that believes in the leadership of its young people,” she said.
The woman representative first dedicated the recognition to God, saying His guidance and strength had sustained her throughout her leadership journey.
The lawmaker also thanked the people of Kirinyaga for entrusting her with the responsibility of representing them and championing their interests at the national level.
“Three years in a row, you have given me the mandate to champion your voices, protect your resources and fight for your development. This award belongs to every mother striving for a better Kirinyaga, every youth searching for opportunity, and every family believing in a brighter future,” she said.

In an emotional tribute, Njeri dedicated the achievement to her late father, crediting him with shaping her values, supporting her education and inspiring her approach to leadership.
“My father taught me that true leadership is not about what you gather but what you scatter to lift others. Daddy, this is for you. Your sacrifices were not in vain,” she said.
She also acknowledged former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for his mentorship and support throughout her political journey.
