Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata has told off the outgoing Murang’a Governor Mwangi wa Iria to keep off local politics.

Senator Kang’ata who is vying for the Murang’a governor seat claims that the incumbent has been attacking him in his rallies because he has a preferred candidate in August polls.

The senator has, however, dismissed Iria’s alleged attempts noting that it is the people of Murang’a who will choose their next governor.

“The people will decide who they will vote in as their next governor when the time of elections come. I am ready to face off with my opponents and confident that I will win the seat,” Kang’ata said.

“The governor has been dragging my name in every political gathering and I don’t know why. I am vying for the governor’s seat and he is vying for the presidency. We are in completely different lanes,” he added.

Kang’ata and Wa Iria have been at loggerheads for sometime with the governor accusing him of criticizing his leadership.
