Senator Asige hails Kasipul by-election Gen Z candidate Aoko who finished 9th
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominated senator Crystal Asige has hailed a Gen Z candidate, Jeazmen Linda Aoko, who threw herself into the highly intensive Kasipul constituency by-election that was dominated by men.
Aoko, at only the age of 26, made her first stab at the parliamentary race that was marred with violence as an independent candidate.
She, however, managed to finish in the ninth position after garnering 26 votes.

Aoko’s Kasipul candidature
Taking to her official X account on Thursday, December 4, 2025, Asige hailed Aoko for her courage, noting that out of the 22 by-elections that were recently conducted, it is her candidature that stood out.
“Of all by-election stories, Jeazmen Linda Aoko’s gives me life. At just 26, she decided to step into the Kasipul race as the only woman and ran independently,” Asige stated.
According to Asige, Aoko’s failure to clinch the Kasipul parliamentary seat at her first stab cannot be described as a loss but as a starting point.
She went ahead to note that very few people of Aoko’s age would dream of throwing themselves into such an intensive race.
Asige further stated that she was actively looking for the Kasipul Gen Z candidate so that she could take her out for lunch.
“When you really think about it, hers isn’t a loss—it’s a starting point. It’s the kind of courage that very few people her age would even dream of. I’m genuinely proud of her. If anyone knows her, mwambie ana missed call hapa because I want to take her out to lunch,” she wrote on X.
