‘Young people are preparing me for 2042 presidency’ – Salasya

The ambitious Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has disclosed that his youthful constituents are preparing him to be the next president of Kenya come 2024.

Taking to his official Instagram page, on Saturday, July 27, 2024, the Democratic Action Party -Kenya (DAP-K) lawmaker shared a video of him inspecting a scout parade in his constituency.

Salasya said that he believes in his presidential ambition adding that the country’s future is with the young generation.

“The future is here with us…nikija Mumias East lazima nikague parade ( I must inspect the parade every time am at Mumias East)wah these young people are preparing me for the 2042 presidency. I believe,” he said.

Salasya’s ambitions

The youthful legislature, on multiple occasions, has been declaring his interest in contesting for the much bigger political seat.

On March 29, 2024, while attending a public event in an undisclosed area, Salasya said that one day he would be the president of the Republic of Kenya after he was called to join the scouts in reciting the national anthem.

“One day I might be the president of Kenya,” Salasya declared.

On June 14, 2024, the legislature disclosed that the 2024 presidential preparations were underway after being received by a parade of students from his constituency during his visit.

“Rais wa 2042 preparation,” he wrote.

Salasya has not only shown his interest in the presidential seat but also in the gubernatorial seat.

On Sunday, January 21, 2024, he declared he would vie for the Kakamega County gubernatorial seat in the next general election.

Taking to his X account the DAP-K lawmaker disclosed that his gubernatorial candidature for Kakamega County is official.

“It’s now official I will be vying for Governor,” the MP said.

Currently, Salasya is a first-term serving MP in the August House and he was elected on the DAP-K party ticket led by Eugune Wamalwaan affiliate party in the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Alliance coalition.
