Salasya blasts Natembeya over attempted takeover of Wamalwa’s DAP-K
Peter Salasya has come out guns blazing against Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya for what he stated as a forced takeover of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K).
In a strongly worded statement released on Friday, August 31, 2025, via his official Facebook account, the Mumias East MP dismissed any attempts to wrest control of the party from its founding leader, Eugene Wamalwa.
“Eugene Wamalwa is my party leader. Governor George Natembeya is a goon who wants to take over the party forcefully,” Salasya said, making it clear that he would not support what he termed a disrespectful political manoeuvre.
The MP, who has been vocal about his long-term presidential ambitions, said his loyalty to Wamalwa is rooted in principle, not convenience.
“I will not betray Eugene Wamalwa at this hour,” he declared, adding that DAP-K’s current identity is inseparable from its founder.
“People didn’t come to DAP-K because of NEC members, they came because of the Eugene Wamalwa brand,” he added
Salasya also said that Natembeya has been using underhanded tactics to win over party officials.
“I know all plans are underway. He has spent millions on NEC members,” he stated.
Even as he hinted at future political plans, Salasya emphasised that any move away from DAP-K would be made with dignity and dialogue, not force.
“I have the ambition of being the president of Kenya, but I’ll do it concerning Eugene Wamalwa. When the time comes, I’ll tell him my political father, it’s now my time to move out and form my own house at the right time and with respect, not this silly forceful takeover,” he further stated
Salasya’s remarks come amid growing tensions within DAP-K, where power dynamics have recently shifted, with Natembeya taking on a more prominent national political profile. However, Salasya warned that any attempts to sideline the party’s founding leadership risk tearing the party apart.
His message is clear: political succession should be grounded in structure, legacy, and respect, not driven by ambition fueled by wealth and power.
