Country’s resources

His bold declaration comes just weeks after he pledged to ensure that all Kenyans benefit from the country’s natural resources if he ever ascends to the presidency.

In a statement shared on February 8, 2025, Salasya expressed frustration over how Kenya’s rich mineral deposits are only serving a few powerful individuals rather than the general public.

“The moment I become President of Kenya, I will make sure Kenyans enjoy the natural resources that God gave us as a country. It’s so sad that God gave us a lot of iron ore in Mbeere and Ukambani, but it’s only benefiting cartels,” Salasya said.

The MP lamented that despite Kenya having vast reserves of iron ore in Mbeere and Ukambani, only a select group of cartels is profiting from them. He argued that these resources should be utilized to boost Kenya’s economy and improve the livelihoods of ordinary citizens.

Salasya further criticized the soaring steel prices, emphasizing that Kenya could have been a major exporter of steel if its iron ore deposits were properly harnessed. He linked the high cost of steel to challenges in implementing key government projects such as the affordable housing initiative.

“This could have made Kenya the major exporter of steel, but surprisingly the prices of steel have doubled, and we’re talking about the affordable housing concept. The same applies to cement, where we have our clinker in Baringo, Ukambani, and Kajiado, but the cement prices keep going up from Ksh850 to Ksh930,” he added.

Additionally, he pointed out that while Kenya has clinker deposits in Baringo, Ukambani, and Kajiado, cement prices continue to rise, making construction more expensive for Kenyans.

The lawmaker assured his supporters that he would bring up these concerns in Parliament. However, he insisted that he would be more effective in tackling such issues if he were the President of Kenya.

Presidential seat

In a past post, the MP also revealed that he would vie for the country’s top seat in 2027 if no presidential candidate will address the the unemployment crisis in the country.

He said that he would join the race if the candidates would not address manufacturing and industrialisation in Kenya.

According to Salasya, addressing the challenges faced in manufacturing and industrialisation will not only help curb the high rate of unemployment in the country but also stabilise the economy.

“If the presidential candidates will not address manufacturing and industrialisation in Kenya I will then be vying for the presidency come 2027. We can not continue exporting our youths. It is unacceptable. Going forward because we the youths do not want stories, we want a clear platform,” he declared.
