Details of Ruto’s State House meeting with Meru MPs
President William Ruto on Monday, June 10, 2024, held a meeting with Members of Parliament (MPs) from Meru County at State House, Nairobi.
Ruto, through his official X account, announced that MPs had started aligning their development agenda with his Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda, which he says is essential for achieving inclusive growth.
“I am pleased to note that Members of Parliament are aligning their development agenda with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda. This strategic alignment is essential for achieving inclusive growth,” Ruto announced.
Development programmes
The head of state also revealed the details of his meeting with the lawmakers from Meru County.
According to Ruto, they had discussed the development programmes in the county.
Ruto says the development programmes he discussed with Meru MPs include the last-mile connectivity for both electricity and fibre and the construction of markets and roads, among others.
“At State House, Nairobi, met with MPs from Meru County to discuss the development programmes in the county that include the Last Mile Connectivity for both electricity and Fibre, construction of markets, roads, among others,” Ruto said in a statement via his X account.

Ruto’s meeting with MPs from Meru County comes ahead of his scheduled tour of the region.
Ruto’s Meru tour
Ruto had pointed out during the Madaraka Day celebrations on June 1, 2024, that the Kenya Kwanza government is looking to develop every county, to unite the country.
Ruto toured Meru County last in January 2024, in the company of his deputy Rigathi Gachagua where they commissioned various development projects.
They were hosted by Meru County Governor Kawira Mwangaza, Senator Kathuri Murungi, and Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi, among other high-ranking government officials allied with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
They launched various development projects in Buuri, Tigania West and Tigania East.
Ruto has been to Meru several times since his election in August 2022.
During his visit to the region in September 2023, the Head of State weighed in on the leadership wrangles in the county pitting Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), Governor Mwangaza and several other leaders including Senator Murungi.
