Kindiki donates Prado, unveils multi-million pledges at Meru church service
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki donated a Prado vehicle to the Methodist Church bishop during a thanksgiving and fundraising service in Meru County on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
Kindiki presented the vehicle to the bishop during the Worship and Thanksgiving Service organised by the Methodist Church, Abothuguchi Synod, saying it would support her ministry and movement across the region.
“Nimeleta gari ya askofu, sasa hiyo ndiyo gari ya askofu hapo. Peleka hapo,” Kindiki said.
The Deputy President said the donation was aimed at helping the Bishop carry out her religious duties and serve members of the synod.
“Tunataka hii gari ipatie wewe, familia yako na waumini wote wa synod ya Abothuguchi. Huduma nzuri, huduma ambayo itasaidia kukuza moyo yetu na Ukristo wetu,” he said.
The event also featured a fundraising drive for the construction of the synod headquarters at Kirigara. Kindiki said the fundraising was one of two church activities taking place in the region, with another involving the construction of a cathedral at Laare in Nyambene.
“Leo ni siku ya kukusanya pesa ya kuanza synod headquarters hapa Kirigara. Na hiyo kazi tunaifanya saa hii,” he said.
Millions pledged during fundraiser
During the fundraiser, Kindiki announced several contributions, saying he would speak on behalf of other leaders present. He pledged Ksh5 million towards President William Ruto’s contribution, while also announcing Ksh2 million from Meru Governor Isaac Mutuma, Ksh2 million from Water CS Eric Mugaa, and Ksh500,000 each from nominated MP Dorothy Muthoni and Meru Woman Representative Elizabeth Kailemia.
The host, MP Kirima, was also asked to contribute Ksh500,000 towards the church project. Kindiki said the pledges reflected his decision on what to contribute on behalf of the leaders and not necessarily amounts they had individually proposed.

Kindiki also highlighted MCA Mwenda Ithili, who is eyeing a Senate seat. Ithili was heard saying he had Ksh10,000 in cash to give, but Kindiki later announced that he would raise the contribution to Ksh200,000.
Kindiki also praised Bishop Dorin’s leadership, saying her position demonstrated that women could serve in senior leadership roles.
“We are very proud of her as our leader, as our bishop. She is a good encouragement to our girls, our children, and our daughters that there is no difference between our sons and daughters. They are all created equal,” he said.
The Deputy President used the occasion to highlight development projects in Meru County, saying President William Ruto had continued visiting the region and supporting infrastructure programmes.
Kindiki said the president would return to Meru later in the month to launch development projects, including roads, markets and electricity initiatives.
He also spoke about the ongoing modernisation of Meru Level Six Hospital, saying the project was expected to improve healthcare services in the county.
“The governor has told me it is almost complete. We hope by the end of the year, those constructing Meru Hospital modernisation will have completed phase one,” Kindiki said.
He added that the first phase of the hospital upgrade was valued at Ksh1 billion and that more funding would be sought to expand the facility further.
The Meru church service comes amid growing public debate over large political donations and fundraising contributions made at public events. Leaders have increasingly faced calls for transparency over the sources of funds used during such activities.
