Ruto, Kindiki celebrate as UDA shine in by-elections
By Ndiritu Wanjiru, February 27, 2026President William Ruto and his deputy, Kithure Kindiki, have celebrated the victory achieved by their party, the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), in the just-concluded by-elections.
The polls were conducted on Thursday, February 26, 2026, where the party recorded a clean sweep in all four elective positions that were up for grabs in the by-elections.
Taking it to their social media handles on Friday, February 27, 2026, the two leaders of the ruling party (UDA) have thanked the electorate for standing with the party.
On his part, President Ruto hailed the voters and said that the victory had solidified the party’s course to building a national party with a vision to go beyond generations as Kenya embarks on a journey to move from a third-world to a first-world country. He congratulated the winners, saying that their victory is a sign of the confidence the people have in them.
“Thank you, Isiolo South, West Kabras, Muminji, and Evurore, for standing firmly with the United Democratic Alliance in yesterday’s by-elections.
“We are firmly on course to building a solid national political party whose vision goes beyond generations as we move Kenya to the first world. Congratulations, Tubi Mohammed (Isiolo South Constituency), Elphas Kainanga Shalakha (West Kabras Ward), Duncan Muratia Nyaga (Evurore Ward) and Peterson Njeru (Muminji Ward), for your victory and the confidence the people have shown in you,” Ruto noted.

On the other hand, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki congratulated the winners, terming it a clean sweep for the United Democratic Alliance Party.
“Congratulations, Tubi Mohamed, for winning the Isiolo South MP seat, and Muratia Nyaga, Njeru Njiru (Weche) and Eliphas Shalakha on your wins of the MCA seats for Evurore, Muminji and Kabras West wards, respectively. It’s a clean sweep for the UDA Party,” Kindiki noted.

ANC’s Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, has also taken it to his social media handle to congratulate the United Democratic Alliance for its victory in the concluded by-election, terming the win as the people’s win. Musalia has hailed the campaigners who went a long way in campaigning for the candidates.
“Congratulations to our @UDAKenya candidates who have emerged victorious in the by-elections in West Kabras, Evurore, Muminji and Isiolo South! This win belongs not just to the candidates but also to every voter who turned out with confidence, to every volunteer who walked the ground, to every mobiliser who knocked on doors, and to every supporter who believed in our vision. You have demonstrated that when the people speak, their voice carries power,” Musalia noted.

By-elections
The by-elections involved one parliamentary contest in the Isiolo South constituency and four member of county assembly contests in wards, namely, West Kabras in Kakamega County and Muminji and Evulole wards in Embu County.
The UDA has witnessed a win in all 4 seats in what was termed a ‘hotly contested race’. This has solidified the confidence of the president and his deputy as being the leaders of the ruling party.
