Ruto hosts Nyeri and Murang’a leaders at State House, promises goodies
By Mustafa Juma, April 8, 2026President William Ruto on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, hosted a section of political leaders from Nyeri and Murang’a Counties at State House, Nairobi.
Taking to his official X account, Ruto revealed that the meeting served as an opportunity to fast-track development projects in the two regions.
The Head of State promised to transform the face of Nyeri County through ambitious infrastructure development, including the completion of the Kenol-Karatina-Marua dual carriageway, the construction of 8,000 affordable housing units, 20 modern markets, and hostels for university and college students.
Expanding opportunities
The upgrading of Ruring’u Stadium was also discussed during the meeting. According to Ruto, the completion of the projects will expand opportunities, strengthen local enterprise, and lift the livelihoods of the people of Nyeri.
“We are transforming the face of Nyeri County through ambitious infrastructure development. This includes the completion of the Kenol-Karatina-Marua dual carriageway and other road projects, the construction of 8,000 affordable housing units, 20 modern markets and hostels for university and college students, and the upgrade of Ruring’u Stadium,” Ruto stated.
“During a meeting at State House Nairobi, we agreed to fast-track these projects so that we can conclusively expand opportunities, strengthen local enterprise, and lift the livelihoods of the people of Nyeri.”

Murang’a development projects
Ruto also revealed that he had discussed the progress of key projects in Murang’a, including the ongoing construction of Mau Mau roads, Mumbi and Gakoigo stadia, Kenneth Matiba Hospital, affordable housing, and electricity connectivity, among others.
“Our transformation programme in Mùrang’a County is progressing well, ranging from road construction, building of hospitals, development of market infrastructure and affordable housing, and electricity connectivity to installation of milk coolers, among others,” Ruto wrote on X.
“Met leaders from Murang’a County, State House Nairobi, and took stock of our development agenda. We discussed the progress of key projects, including ongoing construction of Mau Mau roads, Mumbi and Gakoigo stadia, Kenneth Matiba Hospital, affordable housing, and electricity connectivity, among others.”

Nyeri leaders in the State House meeting included Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga, Mathira Member of Parliament Eric Wamumbi, and Nyeri Town MP Duncan Maina Mathenge, among others.
Murang’a leaders in the meeting included Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome, Murang’a Woman Representative Betty Maina, nominated MP Sabina Chege, nominated senator Veronica Maina, and others.
