Ruto hosts Nyandarua leaders as he continues to woo Mt Kenya region
President William Ruto has taken his transformative initiative to Nyandarua County, holding firm that his Kenya Kwanza administration is keen on reshaping the country’s economic scale after meeting county leaders.
Taking his development campaign to X on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Ruto said the transformative initiative in Nyandarua will focus on universal healthcare, revamped agricultural production, and the construction of modern markets, among others.
Transforming the country
”We are transforming our country through many initiatives, including the revamping of agricultural production, universal healthcare, construction of affordable housing, modern markets, hostels, roads, and connection of citizens to electricity and water, among others,” Ruto said.
While meeting Nyandarua leaders Faith Gitau (Women Rep), Kwenya Thuku (MP Kinangop), Njuguna Kiaraho (MP Ol Kalou), George Gachagua (MP Ndaragwa), and Michael Muchira (MP Oljororok), at State House, Nairobi, Ruto said the region will not lag as he seeks to transform the country for the better.

The Head of State has been reaffirming to Kenyans that he will be at the forefront in ensuring that Kenya does not remain where it is in matters of infrastructural and general development.
”Nyandarua County, like many other parts of Kenya, is at the forefront of our transformation agenda. The affordable housing projects are underway in the constituencies, while modern markets are ongoing at Kwa Haraka, Miharati, and Ndaragwa. We are also upgrading and expanding JM Kariuki Referral Hospital in Ol Kalou. At the same time, Nyandarua University, which admitted the first 190 students in September 2025. We will be upgrading the infrastructure at the campus, including the construction of a tuition block and a library,” Ruto said.
However, as Ruto commits to transforming Kenya, Advocate Ndegwa Njiru has once again risen against his dream of dragging the country from its present third-world state to match the level of first-world countries in Asia, particularly Singapore.

Based on his X posts on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, Njiru argued that the ‘Singapore Dream’ initiator, in this case referring to President Ruto, does not have a strategic plan to implement it, instead using the narrative to settle political scores.
Politics of transformation
”The person who has made Singapore a topic for discussion in this country doesn‘t intend to even attempt to do anything he has said about it. It is all politricks. The earlier Kenyans realise that the quicker they shall find peace,” Njiru argued.
Ndegwa Njiru’s caution to Kenyans over Ruto’s Singapore dream comes days after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua challenged the Head of State to first fulfil promises under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda before embarking on the Singapore mission.
