Ruto congratulates Prime Minister Modi for making history in India
President William Ruto has congratulated Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for attaining a historic milestone in public service after becoming the longest-serving elected prime minister in India’s history.
In a message shared on his X account on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, President Ruto said the milestone reflects the strong trust and confidence placed in Modi’s leadership by the people of India across three consecutive electoral mandates in the world’s largest democracy.
“Congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on attaining a historic milestone in public service, as today you become the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history,” Ruto said.

Leadership built on public trust
The president noted that Modi’s extended leadership is a reflection of sustained public confidence, adding that it demonstrates the strength of democratic choice in India.
“This reflects the trust and confidence reposed in your leadership by the people of India across three consecutive mandates in the world’s largest democracy,” he said.
Ruto further highlighted Modi’s political journey, describing it as one shaped by determination, discipline and commitment to public service.

He praised the Indian leader’s rise to power, saying it serves as an example of perseverance and dedication in public life.
“Your journey from humble beginnings to this position is a testament to dedication, perseverance and public service,” Ruto stated.

The president also reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening ties with India, noting the long-standing partnership between the two countries.
He said Kenya values its “strong and enduring partnership” with India and expressed optimism about deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest for the benefit of both peoples.

Ruto underscored the importance of continued collaboration between Nairobi and New Delhi, particularly in advancing shared development goals, trade and diplomatic engagement.
