Raila endorses Wafula Wamunyinyi for Bungoma Senator
Azimio La Umoja – One Kenya leader Raila Odinga has backed Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) Party leader Wafula Wamunyinyi for the upcoming Bungoma Senatorial by-election.
Speaking during a press conference held at the Serena Hotel on Thursday, November 3, 2022, Raila said Azimio had settled for Wamunyinyi to fly its flag in the Bungoma senatorial by-election.
“Our candidate in that contest will be honourable Wafula Wamunyinyi. He has what it takes to win the Bungoma seat and more importantly, he has a record of speaking out for the people of Kenya,” Raila said.
Fighters in critical places
Raila noted Wamunyinyi is the ideal candidate for Azimio, explaining that Kenya needs fighters in critical places because the country is quickly turning into a one-man regime.
“Given the scenario unfolding in the country and emerging of one man regime that is quickly turning its back on the Kenyans and their problem, the country will need seasoned fighters in all critical places. For the Bungoma senate, Wamunyinyi is our ideal person. I am pleased to unveil him here and promise him full support of the party in the contest,” he said.
The Bungoma senator seat was declared vacant by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) following the election of Moses Wetang’ula as National Assembly Speaker.
The by-election will take place on December 8, 2022.
