Philip Aroko hints at future bid for Kasipul seat after defeat to Boyd Were
Kasipul parliamentary aspirant Philip Aroko has subtly signalled his intention to contest the seat again in the future following his defeat in the by-election held on Thursday, November 27, 2025.
Aroko ran as an independent candidate but lost to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Boyd Were, who garnered 16,819 votes—nearly double the tally Aroko received.
In a series of posts on his official X account on Saturday, November 29, 2025, the politician strongly hinted that he will run again.

He began by stating that ‘the second time is always the charm,’ before issuing a warning to his rivals that the era of political reckoning is fast approaching due to the growing shift toward issue-based politics.
Hour of reckoning
“Kasipul has shown, loud and clear, that our people embrace issue-based politics and not the propaganda peddled by oligarchs. The hour of reckoning is fast approaching,” Aroko stated.
He also highlighted his rapid acceptance by voters despite having only a short campaign period after leaving ODM.

“We left the oldest party barely two months before the by-election, yet we still met our people genuinely, and the OTETE slogan echoed in every home,” he wrote.
Far from over
His latest remarks echo the graceful concession statement he made a day earlier after IEBC confirmed Boyd Were as the new MP-elect.
In that message, the flamboyant businessman strongly hinted at another run—possibly in the 2027 general election—telling his supporters that the race is far from over:
“To those constituents who may feel disheartened today, I feel you deeply. Please know that you have done me a profound honour. You turned out in full force and demonstrated your love and belief with authoritative clarity. Let us remember: there is always a next time. We must not let this moment diminish our resolve. Stay strong. Stay united. Our journey toward a better Kasipul is far from over.”
