Patrick Makau announces Linda Mwananchi rallies in Machakos ahead of 2027 push
Mavoko Member of Parliament (MP) Patrick Makau has announced that the Linda Mwananchi movement will hold political rallies in Machakos County next Sunday, May 31, 2026, as the group intensifies nationwide mobilisation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking after a church service at Light Christian Center on Sunday, May 24, 2026, Makau said the movement would begin engagements with residents of Machakos as part of a broader campaign focused on economic hardships facing Kenyans.
Makau said the Linda Mwananchi team had already traversed different parts of the country and was now shifting focus to Machakos County.
“Nataka niwaambie wananchi wa Machakos yakwamba tumetembea Kenya mzima na tuko hapa Machakos County na sasa kundi ya Linda Mwananchi tutakuwa na vikao hapa kutembelea wananchi wa Machakos,” he said.
According to the MP, the meetings are expected to begin on Sunday, May 31.
Economic challenges
The legislator said the movement’s campaigns are being driven by concerns over the state of the economy, high fuel prices, unemployment, and challenges facing the education sector.
“Mambo ni magumu hapa Kenya. Mnaona maneno ya mafuta, maneno ya vijana kutokuwa na ajira, maneno ya university funding, hali ya masomo, hali ya uchumi imeharibika,” Makau stated.
He argued that many Kenyans are struggling under the current economic conditions and require leadership that better understands their needs.
Push for voter mobilisation
Makau said the Linda Mwananchi movement is encouraging citizens to register and vote in large numbers in the next general election.
He stated that the movement’s objective is to help usher in a government that is more responsive to ordinary citizens.
“Tumekuwa tukitembea Kenya mzima tukihimiza Wakenya wachukue kura kwa wingi, tujitokeze tupige kura ndio 2027 tuwe tunaeza kuleta serikali ambayo ni mwafaka, serikali ambayo inaelewa mahitaji ya wananchi wa Kenya,” he said.

The Linda Mwananchi movement leader, Senator Edwin Sifuna, had earlier announced that they would hold a political rally in Machakos Town, which is Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s stronghold, on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
“Tunafungia mwezi pale Masaku…” Sifuna said in a statement shared via his official social media accounts on May 20, 2026.
The Sifuna-led movement has been traversing the country in a bid to popularise its agenda and aim to outdo its rival ODM faction, Linda Ground.
