Orwoba: I am yet to collect personal belongings from my former Senate office
Former nominated senator Gloria Orwoba has come out to state that she was never allowed to take her personal items out of her Senate office.
While speaking during an interview aired on Friday, February 6, 2025, she stated that her phone is still stuck inside the Senate office and that she was not allowed to take it away.
Gloria Orwoba, who months ago was expelled from the Senate and stripped of her nomination capacity, continued to explain that at the time when she was having a tough time with the Senate, she had two phones, one for work and the other personal, and after she was expelled, she was never allowed to go back to the Senate to collect her belongings from the office.

She added that inside the office there were also her children’s documents, which are still stuck within the precincts of the Upper House.
She also stated that one of her phones had a security feature that could detect movements and report the results to the other phone she left with. She claims that there was an attempt to enter her office and that important information was taken away.
“I had a work phone and a personal phone; they are in the office. My kids’ documentation is also in the office, and the last time I was informed and even confirmed, I had a sensor on my phone to show me when there was movement and access to certain places in my office. It showed me that they actually broke into my office and removed everything around and took my documentation.”
According to her, she was removed unconstitutionally from the office, and her removal was illegal since she was supposed to officially hand over the office, which would have been the time she could have collected her personal items after handing over to her successor.
Orwoba’s woes
Gloria Orwoba’s woes began after her close association with former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who had returned to the country to vie for the presidency.
After he landed at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, she was among the leaders from the Gusii region who received him, and she says that is when she began being at loggerheads with the Senate, which eventually led to her removal.

She was later replaced by Consolata Wakabwubi, who was sworn in after Orwoba ran to court to stop the swearing-in, but the courts allowed Wakabwubi’s swearing-in to proceed.
She has now fully thrown her weight behind Fred Matiang’i and has also declared interest in the Bobasi parliamentary seat in 2027, vowing never to take a nomination slot again.
